April 2000 Newsletter
The whole point of what we're urging is simply love - love uncontaminated by self-interest and counterfeit faith, a life open to God.
I Timothy 1:5
Hello and welcome to Metropolis Ministries. We are thrilled to announce that the "Living Video" tour of Song of the Warrior has been launched!!
For those of you not yet familiar with Metropolis, Song of the Warrior began as a music CD, then under the guidance of the Lord (and Dennis & Sherry Bracy) it has been transformed into a live musical, drama, dance, and martial arts ministry. Planned are 8 more prisons, including 3 women's institutions, and 1 show at The Columbia Vineyard Christian Fellowship on June 11at 10:00 am. We invite all of you to this awesome performance, for info contact the church at 772-5691 or email Dennis Bracy at metropolis5@juno.com.
Our first performance of the entire show took place Saturday night, April 8, at Walden Correctional Institution in Columbia, SC., and God's love was surely present as two men publicly gave their lives to Christ! Halleluia!!
The show did not go off without a hitch of course, but it was fun, uplifting, and inspiring! The prisoners were very receptive and patient as we worked through the kinks. It felt great to be a part of such a wonderful cast and crew, working for God, and knowing that His spirit was there to guide and lead us to victory.
Personally, I have never been involved in any type of ministry other than praying for friends and family, so this was all new to me, and I must admit, I was a little apprehensive at first. The presence of the Lord calmed me, and soon filled my heart with overwhelming joy and love. It was definately the most wonderful thing I've ever been involved in, to experience other people giving their hearts to the Lord!
Before we began our prison tour, on Sunday April 2, we performed one skit at Sunday Night Alive. It was a crucifixion scene done to the song "Lest We Be Deceived." Coming from someone who is used to being behind the scenes, it was quite a "thrilling ride" to be onstage, acting out the resurection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus. I believe our goal was to make it as real as possible in order to touch the hearts of the audience. What I hadn't prepared for was how real it would become to us!
Especially with Easter near at hand, I challenge you to take a few moments and imagine yourself as Mary Magdeline, Mary the mother of Jesus, Doubting Thomas, a Roman Soldier, or as Christ himself. Experience the pain, anguish, tears, or even fear. Then move your thoughts to the resurrection and experience the joy, the awe, the HOPE. Fill your heart with the knowledge and make it real.
Please pray for Metropolis as we continue our battle for Christ.
May you be blessed with God's pure love,
Kim Barrickman
