Spiritual Heredity

By Dennis (Eagle Spirit) Bracy

Bible Verses from New American Standard Greek/Hebrew Key Study and NIV Study.

Webster’s defines heredity as the transmission from parent to offspring of certain characteristics.

While none of us ever can or will become God, we as Christians, so often are slow to come into real maturity because we don’t understand who we really are. We must begin to see and in-vision our true identity and the potential that we have before we reach the place of maturity that it will take in order for (Jn. 14:12) to take place. It is true that we are made of flesh blood, and bone. But while we are trapped inside of a body that was born with the nature of sin that leads to death, we have not truly embraced what has taken place once we have been born again.

Born again, re-born, and re-born in the nature of an almighty, everlasting, all powerful, all knowing God who is made of spirit. We are no longer alive as we were before but simply a new creation living in the old house of the person that we used to be. Just as the renter of a house will re-decorate that house to suit their personal taste, we go through re-decoration of the old house as well after being born again. Where we run into trouble is that we begin to like the way the rented house looks and we become comfortable and forget that we are only renting or borrowing it. Because of our inheritance we are simply waiting on our new eternal home (Jn. 14:2). I suppose after living in an old raggedy house the rented house does look much more appealing after it’s been cleaned up and repainted.

Which brings me to heredity. Because we have been re-born there was a literal grafting in of spirit that took place at that moment or re-birth (Jn. 3:5-7). We must not be afraid to exercise our new spiritual muscles that we now have. What are some of the characteristics of our Heavenly Father and is it realistic to say that we, not being God, can become like God? (1 Pt. 1:15-16) says Yes! Let’s let His word tell us.

God our Father:                                                        Us His Kids:

1. Having an everlasting existence.                             1. Jn. 3:16

2. Ability to be Righteous.                                           2. 1 Jn. 3:7

3. Ability to not sin.                                                     3. 1 Jn. 3:6

4. Ability to heal the sick.                                            4. Mk. 16:18

5. Ability to command the demonic.                            5. Mk. 16:17

6. Ability to raise up the dead.                                    6. Mt. 10:8

7. Ability to forgive sin.                                               7. Jn. 20:23

8. Having peace in times of trouble.                            8. Phil. 4:7

9. Ability to command the earth itself.                         9. Mt. 17:20

10. Ability to produce miraculous signs.                    10. Mk. 16:17

Most anyone including an unbeliever would say that a real God would have all of these traits. Truly, our Father is real and He does have all of these traits and many, many more. While we cannot possess every trait of our Heavenly Father any more than we could our earthly father, certainly if we exercise the gift of Faith we can openly portray the above mentioned traits, because He said so. And while we can never be God, we can certainly look very much like our Fathers child if we simply show the world the traits of our heredity. Let’s begin to exercise our faith and start showing the world who our Daddy is. They should have to look no further than us.

Bless You All,

Eagle Spirit
